ABOUT THE ROLE As a Compliance, Threat & Risk Assessment Manager at Coinbase, you will play a critical role in strengthening our global compliance risk management framework by leading enterprise-wide and targeted risk assessments for compliance and financial crime compliance. This is a high-impact position that requires a strong understanding of financial crimes and regulatory risks, as well as the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders across Coinbase legal entities globally. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Compliance, Threat & Risk Assessment Manager, your responsibilities will include: - Managing enterprise-wide compliance risk assessments, including inherent risk identification, control evaluation, residual risk determination, and articulation of key findings and risk themes - Partnering with Money Laundering Reporting Officers (MLROs), Chief Compliance Officers (CCOs), and cross-functional stakeholders across Coinbase legal entities to deliver globally coordinated, locally relevant risk assessment outcomes - Producing risk assessment reports, executive summaries, and governance materials for senior leadership, risk forums, and regulatory audiences - Driving transaction monitoring and customer risk scoring coverage assessments and leading geographic risk rating updates to ensure ratings are current, risk-based, and operationally actionable - Developing a compliance threat assessment framework, including governance, methodology, documentation standards, and ongoing maintenance - Pioneering AI-powered automation to scale assessment workflows, demonstrating high AI fluency while maintaining rigorous human judgment and oversight WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need: - 8+ years of experience in compliance, financial crimes, or operational risk assessment within a regulated financial institution, fintech, or consulting firm - Demonstrated success independently leading large-scale risk assessments, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving cross-functional outcomes in ambiguous environments - Deep expertise in Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), sanctions, transaction monitoring, customer risk scoring, geographic risk assessment, and compliance risk management frameworks - Experience designing threat assessment frameworks, conducting TM/CRS coverage assessments, and leading geographic risk rating reviews across multi-entity or multi-jurisdictional compliance environments - Proven ability to produce executive-quality written communications, data analysis, and governance materials; proficiency in Excel, SQL, and AI platforms - A crypto-forward mindset with understanding of crypto products, services, and evolving ecosystem risks - The ability to utilize generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality WHY REMOTE Coinbase is a remote-first company, with quarterly in-person working sessions called "surges" to bring teams together.
