Commercial Counsel, SPARC

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly motivated Commercial Counsel, SPARC, to join our legal team at Anthropic. As a leading company in the development of safe and beneficial AI systems, we are looking for an experienced attorney to shape the commercial landscape of our cutting-edge technology. You will work closely with our experienced colleagues to negotiate and draft commercial agreements, including AI safety and research agreements, and collaborate with our Go-to-Market teams to support deal velocity and provide practical legal guidance. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Commercial Counsel, SPARC, you will be responsible for: - Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, focusing on AI safety and research agreements, as well as Go-to-Market/Sales transactions including enterprise customer contracts - Partnering closely with Sales and Go-to-Market teams to support deal velocity and provide practical legal guidance - Building and maintaining commercial legal infrastructure, including contract templates, playbooks, and process improvements - Collaborating with Policy, Safeguards, and Research teams on novel AI governance initiatives - Identifying and escalating legal risks appropriately while supporting business momentum - Staying current on legal developments affecting AI technologies WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need: - A J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (California preferred) - Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements - Demonstrated ability to provide clear, practical legal guidance to non-lawyers on complex commercial law matters WHY REMOTE As a remote team, we value flexibility and collaboration.
