ABOUT THE ROLE
The Building Operator Level One is a key member of the hotel's engineering team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel's facilities and systems. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Building Operator Level One, you will be responsible for:
- Providing professional, engaging, and proactive guest service while supporting fellow colleagues
- Demonstrating Accor core values in all interactions
- Establishing and maintaining quantitative standards of performance and utilizing performance management principles to maximize productivity
- Assisting guests regarding property facilities in an informative and helpful way
- Responding promptly to service requests from all facility departments and outlets
- Ensuring all physical operations, including propane gas equipment, plumbing, water treatment, laundry systems, and utilities, are maintained to standard
- Performing routine preventative maintenance of systems and equipment
- Monitoring and managing a cost-effective energy management program
- Conducting regular inspections of facilities and surrounding areas
- Observing and testing the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions
- Dismantling and reassembling equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs
- Assisting with developing and monitoring an effective inventory control process for designated supplies
- Establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with relevant vendors
- Ensuring hotel compliance with all government regulations pertaining to building code requirements, health, fire, and life safety programs
- Responding promptly to maintenance requests from guests, colleagues, and management
- Complying with OSHA regulations, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and safety precautions
- Participating in the hotel's energy management, emergency preparedness, occupational health and safety, and environmental programs
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A 1st Class Power Engineering certification (or the ability to obtain certification within a set timeframe)
- A strong mechanical aptitude and a degree/diploma in Engineering, Building Management, Mechanics, or appliance trade certification
- A minimum of 3 years of working experience in a similar position within a luxury hotel
- Proven record of sound technical judgment and working knowledge of building systems and testing equipment
- Health and Safety certification and adherence to policies and procedures
- Demonstrated knowledge of all regulations, including building codes, fire, and health department requirements
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering and building blueprints
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- Strong organizational, project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Computer literacy and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and awareness of cutting-edge facilities and energy management technologies and strategies
- Ability to read, write, speak English fluently
- Strong work ethic, high responsibility, reliability, and flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings, public holidays, and weekends
