Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE FedEx is a global leader in logistics and air freight, and our aviation maintenance team plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our commercial aircraft fleet. As an Aviation Maintenance Technician, you will be part of a distributed team that supports flight operations worldwide, providing expert analysis, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance for a variety of aircraft systems. This remote position allows you to leverage your technical expertise while collaborating with engineers, pilots, and ground crews across multiple time zones, ensuring that every aircraft remains on schedule and compliant with all regulatory standards. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will conduct detailed inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on avionics, hydraulics, powerplant, and environmental control systems, following FedEx’s rigorous maintenance procedures and FAA regulations. You will prepare and maintain accurate maintenance records, update technical documentation, and submit work orders through our integrated maintenance management system. You will collaborate with the global engineering team to analyze failure data, recommend design improvements, and develop corrective action plans. You will participate in virtual safety briefings, training sessions, and cross‑functional workshops to stay current with evolving technologies and regulatory changes. You will also mentor junior technicians remotely, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You hold a valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification and have at least five years of hands‑on experience working on commercial aircraft, preferably within a large logistics or freight environment. You possess strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex schematics, fault codes, and maintenance manuals. Your communication skills are exceptional; you can clearly document findings, explain technical issues to non‑technical stakeholders, and present recommendations in concise reports. You are proficient with maintenance management software, data analytics tools, and remote collaboration platforms. You thrive in a self‑directed, asynchronous work environment, managing your schedule to meet project milestones while maintaining high safety standards. You are adaptable, proactive, and committed to continuous learning in a fast‑paced, technology‑driven industry. WHY REMOTE FedEx’s distributed maintenance model empowers technicians to work from any location, reducing travel time and allowing you to balance professional responsibilities with personal commitments. Our asynchronous culture means that you can collaborate with colleagues across time zones through real‑time messaging, video conferencing, and shared digital workspaces, ensuring that critical maintenance tasks are coordinated efficiently without the constraints of a fixed office schedule. Flexible hours enable you to align your most productive periods with the needs of the fleet, while our robust digital infrastructure supports secure, real‑time access to aircraft data and maintenance systems from anywhere. BENEFITS FedEx offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, a competitive retirement plan, and generous paid time off. Remote employees receive a monthly stipend to offset home‑office equipment and internet costs, as well as a learning budget to pursue certifications, courses, and industry conferences. Additional perks include wellness programs, employee assistance resources, and access to a global network of professional development opportunities.
