Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE We're seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join the Anthropic Fellows Program, a 4-month full-time research program designed to foster AI research and engineering talent. As a fellow, you'll work on an empirical project aligned with our research priorities, with the goal of producing a public output, such as a paper submission. Our program provides funding and mentorship to promising technical talent, regardless of previous experience. WHAT YOU'LL DO As an Anthropic Fellow, you'll have the opportunity to work on a project that aligns with our research priorities, using external infrastructure, such as open-source models and public APIs. You'll be directly mentored by Anthropic researchers and have access to a shared workspace in either Berkeley, California, or London, UK. You'll also be connected to the broader AI safety and security research community. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be a strong candidate, you should have a strong technical background in computer science, mathematics, or physics. You should be motivated by making sure AI is safe and beneficial for society as a whole and be excited to transition into empirical AI research. You should thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments and be able to implement ideas quickly and communicate clearly. You should also be fluent in Python programming and available to work full-time on the Fellows program. WHY REMOTE As an Anthropic Fellow, you'll have the flexibility to work remotely from either Berkeley, California, or London, UK. You'll have access to a shared workspace and be connected to the broader AI safety and security research community. BENEFITS As an Anthropic Fellow, you'll receive a weekly stipend of $3,850 USD / $2,310 GBP / $4,300 CAD, plus benefits, which vary by country. You'll also have access to funding for compute (~$15k/month) and other research expenses. Note: The application is for cohorts starting in July 2026 and beyond. The interview process will include an initial application & reference check, technical assessments & interviews, and a research discussion.
