Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE BAE Systems is seeking experienced 1st Class CNC Machinists to join the Battlespace Integrated Solutions Business Unit located at Edinburgh Parks, South Australia. The role involves operating a variety of CNC machines, performing manual machining and fitting tasks, and ensuring high‑quality production of defence components. The position offers a four‑week annual leave entitlement, overtime opportunities, rotating day, afternoon and night shifts, and a share award after one year of service. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will be responsible for computer numerical control machining tasks that meet defence specifications. Your duties include operating multiple CNC machine types, machining components for various projects, and validating parts during production. You will maintain accurate engineering documentation and defect reports to support traceability. Collaboration with BAE Systems’ Quality team will ensure compliance with project quality standards. You will also adhere to Safety, Health and Environment procedures, identify potential quality issues, and provide recommendations for process improvements. WHAT YOU'LL NEED A mechanical trade certificate and proven CNC machining experience are required. Experience in manual machining and fitting is preferred. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline defence security clearance and be cleared for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Strong teamwork, a proactive attitude, and effective communication skills are essential. Availability for the following shifts is required: 7:00 am–3:30 pm Monday‑Friday (day shift), 3:00 pm–12:00 am Monday‑Friday (afternoon shift), and 12:00 pm–8:00 am Sunday‑Thursday (night shift). WHY REMOTE This role is based in a temperature‑controlled environment at Edinburgh Parks, providing a safe and well‑equipped workspace for remote‑enabled operations. The position supports flexible scheduling across day, afternoon, and night shifts, allowing employees to balance professional responsibilities with personal commitments.
