Staff Software Engineer- UI Foundations Team

ABOUT THE ROLE Amplitude is the leading AI analytics platform, helping over 4,700 customers build better products and digital experiences. As a Staff Software Engineer on the UI Foundations Team, you will play a critical role in shaping the frontend infrastructure that powers Amplitude's products. With a focus on scalability, performance, and developer experience, you will drive architectural decisions and lead the build-out of autonomous, AI-agent-driven engineering workflows. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Staff Software Engineer on the UI Foundations Team, your responsibilities will include: - Driving architectural decisions for the frontend platform, focusing on module boundaries, micro-frontend patterns, shared component/design-system infrastructure, and state management strategy. - Diagnosing and fixing systemic performance issues, establishing performance budgets and guardrails that scale across teams. - Building and maintaining the build systems, local dev environments, CI/CD pipelines, linting/codegen, and internal tooling that other engineers depend on daily. - Continuously identifying and automating bottlenecks in the engineering workflow using AI-agent-driven tooling. - Setting technical direction and standards for the frontend org, mentoring senior/staff-track engineers, and reviewing architecture proposals from other teams. - Collaborating with product engineering teams, design systems, and platform/infra teams to ensure foundational investments solve real product-team pain points. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you will need: - Real-world software engineering experience, with a track record operating at Staff level or equivalent scope/impact. - Deep expertise in modern frontend architecture (React or equivalent component frameworks) combined with strong infrastructure/systems engineering instincts. - Demonstrated experience improving frontend application performance at scale, including bundle optimization, load time, and runtime performance.
