Staff Product Designer - Shopping Experiences

ABOUT THE ROLE We're seeking a highly skilled Staff Product Designer to elevate the end-to-end shopping experience across Instacart's Core Shopping ecosystem. As a key member of the Instacart Design Team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the visual and interaction quality of our shopping experiences, ensuring they are effortless, intuitive, and meet the needs of our diverse user base. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Staff Product Designer, you will be responsible for defining and evolving the design language of Instacart's shopping experiences, including browse, search, item detail, cart, and checkout. You will work closely with product teams to explore and develop new interaction patterns, modules, and components, and ensure they are thoughtfully integrated into the design language system without fragmentation. You will also partner with product designers to refine UI components, layouts, and patterns, and drive cohesion, continuity, and consistency across end-to-end journeys. Your expertise will be essential in setting a high bar for visual quality and interaction design, influencing how interfaces look, feel, and behave across the product. In addition, you will lead high-impact initiatives end to end, from problem framing and exploration through interactive prototyping, delivery, and launch, driving alignment with PM, engineering, data science, and brand partners. You will also introduce and evolve new ways of working across design, product, and engineering, using shared artifacts to improve clarity, speed, and alignment. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you will need to be a highly skilled product designer with a strong understanding of design principles, human-centered design, and interaction design. You will have a proven track record of designing and shipping high-quality products, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will be proficient in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and have experience with modern AI tools such as motion, image generation, and code-driven prototypes. You will also be able to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and design.
