Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE Okta is seeking a talented Staff Product Designer to lead user experience strategy and execution for our Okta Research & Development (ORD) business unit. As a key member of our globally distributed design team, you will apply your craft and expertise to drive cohesive user experience across Okta's portfolio of products. Your focus will be on helping us build a secure, trusted, and unified platform with deep integrations. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Staff Product Designer, you will lead a holistic, human-centered approach to design, guiding and overseeing the UX strategy alongside cross-functional partners. Your responsibilities will include: - Leading user experience strategy and execution for ORD, solving every identity use case at work for all types of people and resources - Designing and facilitating co-creation design workshops with Product Management, Engineering, and Design to define opportunities within our products to solve valuable customer problems - Crafting user-centered artifacts and end-to-end journeys to align teams contributing to Workforce Identity Management around the broader user experience - Collaborating with other Okta designers to ensure consistency across interface experiences across different user scenarios - Advocating, mentoring, and educating on the benefits of design thinking to product teams and new designers alike - Mentoring junior designers and contributing toward team-level and design practice and process improvements - Defining and driving frameworks, contracts, and standards for others to build on top of and add value to, ensuring the quality of UX delivery - Presenting work, concepts, and new ideas to cross-functional team members, adjacent teams, and senior leadership - Evaluating AI-generated outputs for technical accuracy, design system adherence, and ease of use to serve as a necessary quality bar before designs move to production - Collaborating with user researchers to research and synthesize user needs to help conceive, define, test, and evolve solutions for our users across a range of mediums and experiences WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need: - Experience leading cross-discipline teams and exemplifying leadership - Curiosity and experience incorporating AI into your design process, including the ability to craft tools, iterate on ideas collaboratively with AI, and document sophisticated prompts for scaled use - Passion for solving complex problems and crafting and sharing product and design UX principles to help teams deliver cohesive user experiences - Ability to collaborate, share work early and often, and seek constructive feedback from peers and stakeholders - Heart of a teacher and ability to mentor and train people, building and sharing empathy with people to deeply understand them and their needs WHY REMOTE As a remote employee, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere while being part of a globally distributed design team.
