Science Lead

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly skilled Science Lead to join the Intercept team within Public Goods at Stripe. As a Science Lead, you will play a critical role in advancing the portfolio of broad-spectrum preventatives needed to radically reduce the burden of respiratory viruses. Your mission will be to source and diligencing pipeline opportunities, develop views on the most promising approaches, and manage the grant/investment process from intake to award. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Science Lead, your primary responsibilities will include: - Expanding the pipeline of broad-spectrum preventatives by engaging with researchers, investors, founders, funders, and other networks to source new ideas and technologies. - Diligencing pipeline opportunities through early and deep technical diligence, evaluating science quality, development plans, team, and fit against the target product profile. - Developing points of view on technologies, contributing to publishing a point of view for the most promising approaches, and identifying key gating datapoints. - Building and maintaining the customer relationship management (CRM) system to capture known projects and systematically learn about new ones. - Supporting the RFP and investment process, including publishing initial RFPs, driving projects from intake through investment/grant execution, and monitoring post-investment progress. - Portfolio management, including monitoring progress, identifying areas for acceleration, and determining what would let top projects move faster beyond funding. - Mapping demand-side bottlenecks, including key stakeholders, evidence needs, and bottlenecks across regulatory, clinical, recommendations, reimbursement, and adoption/uptake. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be considered for this role, you must have a PhD or MD in immunology and/or infectious disease. Experience in life sciences, product development, and grant/investment processes is highly desirable. You should be action-oriented, comfortable working independently, and a great communicator who can translate complex science for diverse audiences.
