Physical Security Design Engineer and Contract Document Specialist

ABOUT THE ROLE Anthropic is building the next generation of safe, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. Our Global Safety, Intelligence, and Security organization is expanding its design engineering capabilities to ensure that every new office facility is protected by world‑class physical security. As a Physical Security Design Engineer and Contract Document Specialist you will own the contract document basis of design for access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, intercommunications, radio, and network systems. Your work will shape the templates, specifications, and schedules that guide architects, electrical engineers, and security integrators across our global office build program, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with international standards. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will develop, maintain, and continuously improve the contract document basis of design, starting from site risk assessments and programming deliverables. You will author and evolve design templates—including drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, and riser diagrams—for all low‑voltage security systems, incorporating regional code variations. You will serve as the subject‑matter expert on contract documents, reviewing consultant deliverables for accuracy and alignment with the BOD, and coordinating across architecture, electrical, fire alarm, AV, and workplace disciplines. You will support bid, construction, and handover phases through specification clarifications, RFI responses, shop‑drawing back‑checks, and as‑built documentation. You will partner with security operations, regional managers, investigations, and network teams to capture operational needs and lessons learned, feeding them back into the design library. You will maintain the GSIS design library under version control, manage change logs, and provide regular status updates to the Physical Security DEC Manager. You will design and implement automations, AI‑assisted workflows, BIM add‑ins, and web utilities to streamline repetitive design and documentation tasks, ensuring QA tools and global standards are aligned across business units. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You will bring at least six years of design engineering experience with ownership of contract document development for physical security or low‑voltage systems. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is required. You must have core technical expertise in access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, intercommunications, radio, and network systems, and be able to author specifications, drawings, and equipment schedules from scratch. You will possess a strong understanding of A/E deliverables, CSI‑format specifications, and construction administration processes. You will demonstrate the ability to develop and implement internal tools such as web applications, BIM add‑ins, and scripting or automation. You will be a detail‑oriented technical author with strong critical‑thinking skills, comfortable working from incomplete inputs and converging on defensible documented standards. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to thrive in active construction environments and travel globally for site coordination when required.
