ABOUT THE ROLE
Anthropic is accelerating the deployment of AI compute at a scale that outpaces conventional data‑center equipment. To support this ambition, we need a New Product Introduction (NPI) Sourcing Manager who will shepherd power and cooling solutions—from battery energy storage systems and grid‑forming inverters to solid‑state transformers, medium‑voltage switchgear, UPS, and liquid‑cooling units—through the entire qualification journey. The role sits at the intersection of electrical and mechanical design, supply chain, quality, and supplier engineering, ensuring that every new component meets our reliability, safety, and performance standards before it is entrusted with production load.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will own the NPI program for each new power or cooling product, establishing gate schedules, exit criteria, and risk registers from concept selection through ramp. You will translate site requirements into supplier‑ready specifications, negotiate trade‑offs, and lead DFM/DFT/DFx reviews to guarantee manufacturability and testability. You will plan and execute prototype and pilot builds, design test plans, and drive root‑cause analysis and corrective action on every failure. You will qualify products for deployment through first‑article inspection, FAT, SAT, and integrated system testing, then hand off qualified products and control plans to manufacturing and supply‑chain teams. You will build reliability models, run FMEA/DFMEA, define burn‑in requirements, and feed field data back into future revisions. You will coordinate cross‑functionally with design engineering, construction, commissioning, utilities, safety, and sourcing to align NPI schedules with campus delivery timelines, and you will maintain supplier readiness metrics, escalating issues early and driving resolution.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
You bring at least eight years of engineering experience in power electronics, electrical equipment, or industrial energy systems, with a minimum of four years leading NPI or product engineering from prototype to production ramp. You have hands‑on experience with at least two of the following: BESS, data‑center‑scale inverters, medium‑voltage transformers or switchgear, UPS, STATCOM/power‑quality equipment, or liquid‑cooling systems. You are familiar with UL, IEEE, IEC, and NFPA standards and how they apply to qualification. You have a proven track record of defining and executing structured qualification programs (EVT/DVT/PVT, FAT/SAT, type testing, reliability testing) and closing failures through disciplined root‑cause analysis and CAPA. You understand supplier factory environments, can assess real readiness to ship at rate, and are fluent in design‑for‑manufacturing, design‑for‑test, and ECO/change‑control processes. You possess strong systems thinking, clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to drive decisions across engineering, supply chain, and executive audiences. A bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or power engineering—or equivalent experience—is required, and you are willing to travel 30–40% to supplier factories and data‑center sites worldwide.
