ABOUT THE ROLE Wellburn Care Homes Ltd is a family‑run care provider that values people over processes. As the Handyperson you will be a vital member of our on‑site team, ensuring that every resident’s home is safe, comfortable and welcoming. Your expertise in general maintenance will support our mission to deliver high‑quality care in a warm, homely environment. You will work closely with care staff, management and external contractors to keep our facilities in top condition and to anticipate future needs. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will conduct routine inspections of the care home and surrounding areas, identifying maintenance issues and prioritising repairs. You will carry out minor plumbing, joinery and electrical tasks, ensuring all work meets health and safety standards. You will maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, defects and safety checks, and report any significant concerns to senior management. You will collaborate with the care team to minimise disruption to residents during repairs. You will support the implementation of our Home and Tech Scheme, ensuring new equipment is installed correctly and safely. You will participate in the Shining Star Award process, recognising colleagues who go above and beyond. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You have a proven track record in general maintenance, with hands‑on experience in basic plumbing, joinery and household electrical fittings. You possess a keen eye for detail and can identify potential safety hazards before they become problems. You are self‑motivated, able to prioritise tasks and manage your own workload efficiently. You hold or can obtain the relevant qualifications or certifications for health and safety, and you are comfortable using standard maintenance software or spreadsheets to log work. You have excellent communication skills, able to explain technical issues to non‑technical staff and to document findings clearly. You are fully compliant with Wellburn’s safeguarding policies, including a full enhanced DBS check.
