Senior Compliance Associate

ABOUT THE ROLE Coinbase is building the future of finance and we need a Senior Compliance Associate to strengthen the compliance foundation of our Luxembourg entity. In this role you will act as a strategic advisor and second‑line defender, shaping the compliance framework that keeps Coinbase aligned with Luxembourg and EU regulatory expectations. You will work closely with the Chief Compliance Officer, the Central Compliance Testing & Assurance team, and cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure that our policies, monitoring plans, and regulatory reporting meet the highest standards of integrity and transparency. Your influence will directly support the growth of our European business and help us maintain the trust of regulators, auditors, and customers alike. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will lead the drafting, maintenance, and updating of local compliance policies and frameworks, ensuring alignment with EU and Luxembourg regulations and group‑level standards. You will own the Compliance Monitoring Plan and execute thematic reviews across key regulatory obligations, partnering with the Central Compliance Testing & Assurance team to provide consistent second‑line coverage. You will drive regulatory engagement support by preparing materials for inspections, regulatory queries, and governance bodies, and coordinating annual regulatory reports such as AML Risk Assessment and RC Report. You will execute consumer protection monitoring across conflict of interest, transparency, and disclosure requirements, and support Compliance by Design reviews for new products and services. You will coordinate and handle regulatory reporting obligations, liaising with data teams and stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate submissions. You will support the Chief Compliance Officer in overseeing effective AML/CFT implementation, regulatory horizon scanning, and impact assessments for emerging laws and regulations. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You bring at least five years of compliance experience within an EU‑regulated financial institution, with progressive responsibility across multiple compliance disciplines. You have a deep working knowledge of EU financial regulations including MiCA, PSD2, AMLD, MiFID II, DORA, and GDPR, and you can apply them to policy drafting, monitoring plans, and regulatory reporting. You have a proven track record of preparing materials for and supporting direct engagement with regulators, auditors, and internal governance bodies. You have led compliance monitoring and testing programs, conducted thematic reviews, and tracked remediation outcomes. You are fluent in English and have proficiency in French, which is a strong advantage for engaging with Luxembourg regulators and local stakeholders. You are familiar with crypto assets and crypto‑related regulatory frameworks such as MiCA implementation. You responsibly use generative AI, maintaining human oversight to deliver business‑ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
