Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps, trusted by more than 50 million users and half of the Fortune 100 to ship secure software faster. The Director of Recruiting, Engineering & IT will lead GitLab’s India‑based recruiting operations while shaping talent strategy across the broader Asia‑Pacific region. This role reports to the Vice President of Talent Acquisition and is responsible for building a scalable, well‑documented recruiting model that supports 100 to 200 or more engineering and IT requisitions. The director will serve as a strategic talent advisor to Engineering and IT leaders, using market intelligence and data to guide workforce planning, organization design, and hiring priorities.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will lead and develop a multi‑layered recruiting organization, including managers and individual contributors, to meet high‑growth hiring demands across India and the Asia‑Pacific. You will own senior and executive‑level technical searches, including VP and C‑suite‑adjacent roles, ensuring a rigorous, data‑driven process. You will set sourcing, talent pipeline, and market strategies for hard‑to‑fill roles in AI, ML, generative AI, security, infrastructure, and emerging technologies. You will advise senior Engineering and IT leaders on organization design, compensation, talent availability, and hiring priorities, and you will define regional hiring metrics and reporting to surface risks and bottlenecks. You will partner with People Business Partners, Compensation, Finance, and other recruiting leaders to align headcount strategy, process improvements, and tooling decisions. You will champion diversity, inclusion, and belonging while building an effective operating model for all‑remote collaboration across regions and time zones.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
You bring proven experience leading recruiting in high‑growth technology companies, including enterprise‑scale or similarly complex hiring environments. You have managed recruiting managers or led a multi‑layered recruiting organization with accountability for team performance and development. Your deep expertise in recruiting Engineering and IT talent spans individual contributor to senior and executive leadership roles, and you have a record of sourcing, engaging, and closing passive candidates in competitive markets. You possess deep knowledge of India’s technology talent market and experience setting hiring strategy across India and the broader Asia‑Pacific region. You are adept at leading distributed teams and large, multi‑portfolio hiring plans while advising senior leaders through growth and organizational change. Your communication is clear and persuasive, and you employ a data‑informed approach to recruiting, including hiring metrics, dashboards, market intelligence, ATS, LinkedIn Recruiter, and sourcing tools; experience with Greenhouse is a plus.
