ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an Architectural Designer to join Sophie's Flats, a design and build company specializing in accessory dwelling units called ADUs. As an Architectural Designer, you will play a crucial role in creating and developing architectural plans and design solutions for ADU projects. Our mission is to help homeowners expand their living space with thoughtful, efficient, and code-compliant designs.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As an Architectural Designer, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Producing detailed architectural drawings and 3D models
- Developing design concepts that balance aesthetics, functionality, and compliance
- Preparing documentation for permits and approvals
- Coordinating with clients, engineers, contractors, and internal teams
- Researching building materials, sustainable design options, and local codes
- Presenting designs clearly to clients and project stakeholders
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree or diploma in architecture or architectural design
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar tools
- A strong understanding of Ontario building codes, zoning, and permitting processes
- Excellent creativity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Experience or interest in residential architecture or ADUs is an advantage
