Technical Services Engineer - Weekend Shift

ABOUT THE ROLE MongoDB is on a mission to transform how organizations store, process, and analyze data. As a Technical Services Engineer on the weekend shift, you will be the frontline expert who turns complex customer challenges into scalable, reliable solutions. You will work closely with our largest customers, diagnosing issues that span architecture, performance, recovery, and security, and you will partner with product and development teams to advocate for customer needs. Your work will directly influence the success of MongoDB’s cloud and on‑premises offerings, including Atlas, Cloud Manager, and the broader ecosystem of drivers and infrastructure tools. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will troubleshoot and resolve high‑impact incidents during the weekend shift, ensuring seamless hand‑over to the next team with a mandatory 1‑hour lunch break. You will analyze problems from the application layer down to storage, using your expertise in Linux performance, networking, and storage technologies. You will develop and maintain support tools that automate performance benchmarking and diagnostics. You will mentor new hires, guiding them through MongoDB’s certification path and internal knowledge bases. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement of support processes and product features. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You have proven systems engineering experience, including Linux performance tuning, memory management, I/O optimization, and cluster troubleshooting. You understand networking protocols such as DNS, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS, and you have hands‑on experience with NAS, SAN, SSD, and multi‑pathing. You can read and write code in at least one language such as Python, Go, or JavaScript, and you are comfortable scripting to automate routine tasks. You possess a deep awareness of customer workloads, performance, availability, and scalability requirements, and you can think holistically across the stack. You are a self‑taught, curious professional who thrives under pressure, solves problems in real time, and collaborates effectively with teammates. You are a US citizen, and you are willing to volunteer for occasional coverage outside normal hours when required.
