Technical Services Engineer, 1st Shift, EST hours

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Services Engineer to join our team at MongoDB. As a Technical Services Engineer, you will use your exceptional problem-solving and customer service skills, along with your deep technical experience, to advise customers and solve their complex MongoDB problems. You will be an expert in the entire MongoDB ecosystem, including database server, drivers, cloud, and infrastructure services such as Atlas and Cloud Manager. You will work closely with our largest customers, solving their complex issues and advocating for their needs. You will also contribute to internal projects, including software development of support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Technical Services Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Solving complex MongoDB problems for our customers, including issues related to architecture, performance, recovery, security, and more
- Working alongside our largest customers to resolve their technical issues
- Collaborating with our product management and development teams to advocate for customers' needs
- Contributing to internal projects, including software development of support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics
- Mentoring and ramping new team members
- Building knowledge of new product lines within the MongoDB ecosystem
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Systems engineering experience, including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting
- A good understanding of Networking concepts and protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, etc.)
- Storage engineering experience, including NAS, SAN, SSD, multi-pathing, and caching
- Experience building and maintaining complex mission-critical production database systems
- Basic coding/scripting ability in one or more languages (Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, Javascript, node.js, Go, etc.)
- Broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases, including performance, availability, and scalability
- Experience analyzing issues holistically, from the application tier through the database, down to the storage
- A genuine desire to help people
- Ability to think on your feet, remain calm under pressure, and solve problems in real-time
- Desire and ability to rapidly learn a wide variety of new technical skills
- Collaboration: willingness and ability to get help from team members when required, and the good judgment to know when to seek help

This role is a remote position, and you will be required to work from home. You will be part of a team that is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and support.
