Anthropic
Staff Software Engineer, People Products
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Anthropic is a rapidly growing organization focused on creating reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We're committed to developing beneficial AI systems that are safe and beneficial for users and society as a whole. Our team is a dynamic group of researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build innovative AI solutions.
We're seeking a highly experienced Fullstack or product engineer to join our People Products team. This team is responsible for defining the blueprint for AI at work, ensuring manager effectiveness, and shaping Anthropic's culture through the tools we build. As a key member of this team, you'll work directly with Claude, a cutting-edge AI system, and have access to capabilities that no external team has.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
In this role, you'll be responsible for building full-stack end-to-end solutions across the People Products portfolio. You'll design and implement AI-native workflows, including tools, evaluations, prompts, and products. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders, such as HR teams, recruiters, and managers, to understand problems, gather feedback, and iterate quickly.
You'll also make product and architecture decisions independently, knowing when to cut scope, when to ship, and when to ask for input. Additionally, you'll contribute ideas for how the team works, what it builds, and where applied AI can have the most leverage in people workflows.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- 8+ years of relevant experience as a Fullstack or product engineer, with a track record of leading complex, multi-month projects or teams as a tech lead or equivalent
- Experience shipping LLM-native features or applications
- A strong ability to derive joy from hard work and the act of creation
- Experience building big features independently, making great architectural decisions, and being self-sufficient end-to-end
- A high quality bar and ability to make smart tradeoffs under time pressure
- Experience engaging directly with users and criticism, and being genuinely mission-driven
- A collaborative and supportive approach to teamwork
STRONG CANDIDATES MAY ALSO HAVE:
- Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or prior experience building Claude or LLM integrations in production
- Background at an AI-native company or in a product-focused 0->1 engineering environment
- Experience with HR tech platforms such as Greenhouse, Workday, or Rippling
WHY REMOTE
As a remote employee, you'll have the flexibility to work from anywhere while still being part of a dynamic and innovative team. You'll have access to cutting-edge technology and the opportunity to work on complex, high-impact projects.
