Staff Software Engineer, Luxury
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're seeking a motivated Staff Software Engineer to join our Luxury team at Lyft, where you'll have the opportunity to build rich and creative features that set the standard for the ride-sharing industry. As a critical technical leader, you'll take ownership of complex systems, define strategic roadmaps, and drive cross-functional alignment to improve the luxury experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for shaping the long-term architecture for full-stack systems, taking accountability for both short-term functionality and long-term health. You'll translate high-level business goals into actionable engineering projects, own the technical roadmap from conception to delivery, and manage cross-team dependencies and mitigate risks. You'll also champion improvements in system, observability, performance, and tech debt reduction, extending your influence beyond your immediate team.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be successful in this role, you'll need 8+ years of software engineering industry experience, with a proven track record of technical leadership and system ownership. You'll have experience developing mobile apps, designing, debugging, and running fault-tolerant, highly available, large-scale distributed systems. You'll also have demonstrated experience driving technical roadmaps, managing cross-team dependencies, and influencing system architecture at an organizational level.
WHY REMOTE
While we highly value having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture, this role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule. You'll be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. You'll also have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.
BENEFITS
Lyft offers a comprehensive benefits package, including great medical, dental, and vision insurance options, mental health benefits, family building benefits, child care and pet benefits, 401(k) plan with company match, and 18 weeks of paid parental leave. You'll also receive subsidized commuter benefits, monthly Lyft credits, and complimentary Lyft Pink membership.
