Staff Software Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE We're seeking a highly motivated Staff Software Engineer to join our Engineering Team at Evolve, a mission-driven company that makes vacation rental easy for everyone. As a Staff Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping the direction of our platform architecture, driving DevOps transformation, and championing a security-first culture. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design and optimization of our CI/CD pipeline, container orchestration strategy, and cloud infrastructure reliability. You will also be expected to champion a security-first culture by architecting secure infrastructure and holding the bar across every system the team touches. Additionally, you will apply AI tooling with rigor, leveraging AI-assisted development to accelerate platform work while modeling critical evaluation practices. You will own platform reliability end-to-end, setting and driving SLOs/SLAs for business-critical infrastructure, leading incident response, and systematically reducing MTTD/MTTR through automated observability and actionable alerting. You will also lead infrastructure as code at scale, designing scalable, reusable IaC modules that encode organizational standards and reduce toil. Furthermore, you will define and drive architectural direction, serving as the primary decision-maker for platform architecture across multiple teams and domains. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in software engineering, with experience in DevOps transformation, security-first culture, and AI tooling. You will also need to have excellent leadership skills, with the ability to influence systems design and ensure alignment with engineering goals and organizational strategy. Proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is required, as well as experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes), cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), and infrastructure as code (Terraform or Pulumi).
