Staff+ Software Engineer, Enterprise

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly experienced Staff+ Software Engineer to anchor our Enterprise pillar at Anthropic. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in making Claude enterprise-ready at scale. This is a high-agency position that spans multiple efforts within Enterprise, requiring a deep understanding of distributed systems, API architecture, and enterprise areas such as security, identity, compliance, governance, permissions, and connectivity. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Staff+ Software Engineer, you will be responsible for defining and driving multi-year technical strategy, including our distributability and multi-cloud strategy. You will identify and personally lead the highest-complexity, highest-impact engineering initiatives spanning multiple teams. You will serve as one of the primary technical decision-makers for major architectural decisions with org-wide scope. You will partner with other teams such as Inference and Platform for foundational systems, Customer Success for the voice of customers, and Infrastructure and Safeguards for security, privacy, and responsible deployment. You will also mentor and develop Staff-level engineers across the org and drive alignment across Product, GTM, Customer Success, and beyond while proactively identifying and addressing systemic technical risks. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need to have 10+ years of engineering experience with a clear track record operating at Staff or Senior Staff level. You will have demonstrably shaped technical strategy for large-scale Cloud Service Provider or Enterprise SaaS companies. You will drive the highest-leverage technical outcomes without formal authority, leading through influence, quality of thinking, and trust. You will have deep expertise in distributed systems and API architecture, and be effective writing design docs, making architectural calls, and coding in critical paths. You will be highly effective across org boundaries, building trust with GTM, Platform, Inference, Infrastructure, Privacy, Safeguards, and business stakeholders alike. You will bring strong domain expertise and intuition in enterprise areas such as security, identity, compliance, governance, permissions, and connectivity. We also offer a minimum education requirement of a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience, and a minimum years of experience requirement that will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position.
