ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Database Engineering to play a pivotal role in the success of our company. As a key member of our fast-growing and high-performing team in India, you will be responsible for helping us realize our vision of a "Data Platform as a Service." We are looking for an experienced technical leader who is passionate about database reliability, cloud automation, and data integrity, and who thrives working on leading-edge technologies to scale our DataHub to Petabyte Scale.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Staff Software Engineer, DBE, you will be responsible for designing, building, and scaling our RDBMS (Postgres, MySQL, Amazon Aurora) and NoSQL systems (Cassandra, MongoDB) to meet massive ingestion and analytical demands. You will lead large, cross-functional projects that identify and overcome friction points in data persistence, migration, and scaling. Additionally, you will architect scale-out strategies, including the evaluation and implementation of sharding technologies to distribute workloads effectively across clusters. You will also build automation and tooling (Infrastructure as Code) to improve engineering efficiency, reduce toil, and empower product teams to operate in a reliable and secure manner.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be successful in this role, you will need to have 8+ years of experience building and managing large-scale, business-critical, high-throughput stateful applications in the cloud (AWS/GCP). You will also need to have expertise in RDBMS and NoSQL, including deep knowledge in optimizing and tuning PostgreSQL, MySQL Amazon Aurora, MongoDB, and Cassandra. Additionally, you will need to have automation and IaC experience, including expert-level experience with Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management (e.g., Terraform, Ansible). You will also need to have coding proficiency in Python or Java, with a solid grasp of shell scripting.
WHY REMOTE
This is a hybrid position, which will require the ability to be onsite in our Bengaluru, India office as needed. Candidates must be based in India. You will be working with a remote-first team, and you will need to have excellent written and verbal skills, with a love for collaborating across multiple timezones.
