Staff Software Engineer, Data Engineering Solutions

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to lead our Data Engineering Solutions team at Stripe. As a key member of our data team, you will be responsible for driving the technical outcomes for a team of talented engineers, delivering cutting-edge data pipelines, and collaborating with product teams to create and improve canonical datasets and data warehouses. WHAT YOU'LL DO In this role, you will lead the technical outcomes for a team of ambitious engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure their success. You will partner with our recruiting team to attract and hire top talent, deliver reliable and efficient data pipelines, and develop strong subject matter expertise. You will also collaborate with product managers and peers across the company to create and improve canonical datasets and data warehouses, leveraging AI and machine learning to produce and analyze high-quality data. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to drive key data initiatives for Stripe, overseeing the entire development lifecycle from planning to delivery. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need a strong engineering background and passion for data, with prior experience building and operating data systems, pipelines, warehouses, and infrastructure. You will also need experience with writing and debugging data pipelines using a distributed data framework, as well as knowledge of a backend development language and strong SQL experience. You must be able to thrive with high autonomy and responsibility in an ambiguous environment, and have the ability to foster and work in a healthy, inclusive, and supportive work environment.
