ABOUT THE ROLE Coinbase is building the next generation of financial infrastructure, and the Senior Data Scientist on the Consumer team will help shape that future by turning complex data into actionable product decisions. In this role you will partner with product, engineering, and design to improve the experience for millions of users across spot trading, yield products, international expansion, and new initiatives such as prediction markets and equities trading. Your insights will directly influence roadmap priorities, feature launches, and the overall health of the platform. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Lead end‑to‑end analyses of ambiguous business problems, translating data into clear, persuasive recommendations for senior stakeholders. - Own a wide range of metrics, from core logging to polished dashboards, ensuring data integrity and accessibility across teams. - Design and execute rigorous A/B experiments and causal studies that provide statistically sound evidence for product decisions. - Mentor junior analysts, conduct code reviews, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines using SQL and Python. - Champion best practices in statistical modeling, reproducibility, and documentation, raising the bar for analytical quality across the organization. WHAT YOU'LL NEED - BA/BS in a quantitative discipline or a PhD, with at least five years of applied data science experience (or a PhD with three years of industry work). - Demonstrated success delivering high‑impact insights in fast‑moving, ambiguous product environments. - Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and statistical modeling, with a track record of deploying models into production. - Strong communication skills that enable you to distill complex findings into concise narratives for non‑technical audiences. - Experience working within agile, iterative product cycles and collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams. - A growth mindset, positive energy, and a commitment to continuous learning and efficient execution. - Comfortable leveraging generative AI tools responsibly, integrating human‑in‑the‑loop practices to enhance productivity.
