Staff Software Engineer, Ads Data Platform

ABOUT THE ROLE We're transforming the grocery industry at Instacart, and we're looking for a talented Staff Software Engineer to join our team. As a key player in shaping and advancing our robust data platform, you'll design and build systems that capture and enforce data compliance requirements while enhancing self-service capabilities for internal consumers. Your work will empower teams across the organization to make data-driven decisions and directly contribute to achieving key business outcomes. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll lead and break down complex problems, collaborate with engineers and engineering teams, and contribute to our data vision and engineering architecture. You'll oversee engineering initiatives end-to-end, proactively managing risks, setting goals, and ensuring smooth execution and delivery. You'll also balance maintainability with tech debt and the development of new features. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you'll need: - 10+ years of software development experience - Proven ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage ambiguity and conflicting requirements - Self-motivation with a strong sense of ownership in a fast-paced startup environment - Expertise in Spark, ETLs, Distributed System architecture, MapReduce, SQL, and Big Data infrastructure - Experience in balancing urgency and pragmatism with high-quality, long-term solutions WHY REMOTE Instacart is a Flex First team, which means you'll have the flexibility to choose where you do your best work – whether it's from home, an office, or your favorite coffee shop. The base pay range for a successful candidate is dependent on their permanent work location, and offers may vary based on many factors, such as candidate experience and skills required for the role. For US-based candidates, the base pay ranges are as follows: - CA, NY, CT, NJ: $265,000 - $279,500 USD - WA: $254,000 - $268,000 USD - OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, HI: $243,000 - $256,000 USD - All other states: $221,000 - $234,000 USD
