Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE LaunchDarkly is building the next generation of user experience for its feature‑flag and experimentation platform. As a Staff Engineer in Experience Engineering you will lead the design and implementation of the interface and supporting technical platform that powers millions of evaluations per day. Your work will shape how developers and product teams interact with LaunchDarkly’s suite, making it more intuitive, efficient, and data‑driven. You will collaborate with product, design, and data science teams to translate customer insights into high‑impact features, and you will own the operational excellence of the experience platform, ensuring reliability, observability, and rapid incident response. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will design and build the next‑generation user interfaces for both human and agent interactions across the LaunchDarkly product suite. You will partner with cross‑functional teams to provide the tools, APIs, and platform capabilities that enable rapid, high‑quality experience development. You will mentor and coach engineers, raising the bar for technical rigor and system design. You will own the operational health of the experience platform, implementing robust telemetry, alerting, and incident response processes. You will influence product and technical direction through clear specifications, architectural decisions, and data‑driven trade‑off analysis. You will champion a culture of experimentation, ensuring that every new feature is backed by measurable metrics and automated monitoring. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You bring over ten years of experience building large‑scale, consumer‑grade enterprise applications for sophisticated audiences. You have a proven track record of designing interfaces and the underlying technology platforms that support them. You are comfortable leading technical direction, writing detailed specs, and influencing stakeholders across teams. Your background includes Go, Python, or similar languages, and you have hands‑on experience with event‑driven architectures, high‑volume event ingestion, and large‑scale data processing. You are familiar with cloud environments such as AWS or GCP, and data stores including ClickHouse, Redis, DynamoDB, and Kafka. You understand experiment lifecycle tooling, including flag‑experiment integration, metric frameworks, and automated monitoring. You possess strong analytical skills, with experience in funnel analysis, causal inference, or Bayesian experimentation. A BA/BS in mathematics, statistics, data science, or a related field is required; a graduate degree is preferred. You thrive in a fast‑paced, distributed environment and can communicate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences. WHY REMOTE LaunchDarkly operates on a distributed, asynchronous culture that values trust, transparency, and flexibility. Remote work enables you to collaborate with teams across time zones while maintaining a healthy work‑life balance. Our flexible schedule model supports peak productivity periods for each team member, allowing you to align work hours with personal commitments. The remote environment is supported by robust collaboration tools, regular virtual town halls, and a culture that prioritizes outcomes over presence. This approach empowers engineers to focus on delivering high‑quality, innovative solutions without the constraints of a traditional office. BENEFITS LaunchDarkly offers a competitive benefits package that includes comprehensive health, vision, and dental coverage, a generous paid time off policy, and a remote work stipend to support home‑office setup. You will receive a learning budget to pursue professional development, certifications, and conferences. Our compensation includes a base salary, performance bonuses, and restricted stock units, ensuring alignment with company success. Mental health resources, wellness programs, and a supportive community culture further enhance your overall well‑being.
