Staff Backend Engineer - Grafana Enterprise | Canada | Remote

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Backend Engineer to join our Grafana Enterprise team, working on our composable observability platform for large-scale operators. As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and leading the development of backend services, distributed systems, and enterprise features at scale. You will work closely with our global team of expert technologists to develop innovative solutions to large-scale customer challenges and drive continuous improvement of our engineering culture. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Staff Backend Engineer, your key responsibilities will include: - Earning the trust of our large-scale operator customers to further Grafana's "big tent" philosophy of data accessibility and to meet clear business objectives - Designing and leading the development of backend services, distributed systems, and enterprise features at scale - Driving continuous improvement of our engineering culture through words and actions - Driving projects from initial ideation through the development lifecycle to production - Contributing to the scalability, reliability, security, and multi-tenancy of the Grafana platform trusted by some of the world's largest operators - Owning the operational health of our platform by participating in on-call rotations - Hiring and developing the best engineers to build the future of Grafana - Developing your skills as a thought leader to drive continuous improvement of engineering and operational practices across Grafana Labs WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you should have: - Experience working on distributed systems and building reliable, scalable backend infrastructure - Strong technical skills in Go and familiarity with the Grafana platform - Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team - Strong teamwork and leadership skills, with the ability to drive projects and initiatives forward - Experience with AI-assisted development and a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies WHY REMOTE As a remote-first company, we prioritize flexibility and autonomy.
