Staff Backend Engineer - Grafana App Platform | Canada | Remote

WHAT YOU'LL DO We're looking for a skilled engineer to help us refactor Grafana's core architecture to be fully multi-tenant and scalable, as well as a solid platform for our opinionated Cloud apps. You'll be responsible for coding new features, enhancing the operational experience of the systems you develop, and iteratively improving them based on production insights. You'll also author, contribute to, and review design documents, take an active role in shaping the roadmap, mentor and support other team members, and collaborate with different teams across the organization. As part of our on-call rotations, you'll own the experience of our customers by participating in weekday 12h x 5d and a separate weekend 24h x 2d rotations. You'll also have access to modern AI coding assistants, such as GPT-Codex 5/3, Claude Opus 4.7, and Gemini 3 Pro, to help you iterate quickly and efficiently. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you'll need strong coding skills and operational experience, with a background in SaaS platforms and distributed systems problems. You'll also need excellent communication skills, the ability to work across teams, and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. Familiarity with Golang is a plus, but not required. BENEFITS In Canada, the compensation range for this role is $186,368 - $223,642 CAD. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process.
