Staff Backend Engineer - Application Core Services, Stacks | Canada | Remote

WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Staff Backend Engineer on the AppCore Stacks squad, you'll own the systems that create, configure, reconcile, migrate, and operate Grafana Cloud stacks at scale. You'll work at the intersection of product, platform, and operations, building control-plane services and workflows that keep stack state aligned across grafana.com, Stack State Service (SSS), Hosted Grafana, cloud regions, and the underlying Grafana Cloud infrastructure. Your work will focus on designing, building, and operating reconciliation systems, collaborating across teams to ensure stack lifecycle workflows remain reliable, observable, and resilient, and improving operational efficiency. WHAT YOU'LL NEED - 7+ years of experience as a backend engineer, with a strong background in software engineering and a passion for solving complex workflow and systems problems - Experience with cloud-based systems, particularly AWS, Azure, and GCP - Strong understanding of software development principles, including design patterns, testing, and code quality - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams - Experience with open-source software development and community engagement - Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions WHY REMOTE As a remote-first company, we're committed to creating a global and inclusive work environment that allows our team members to thrive from anywhere.
