Staff Backend Engineer - Alerting | Ireland | Remote

ABOUT THE ROLE Grafana Labs is a 100% remote company founded on the principles of open source, open standards, open ecosystems, and open culture. As a Staff Backend Engineer, Alerting, you will be part of the Grafana Alerting squad, which operates at the core of the Grafana open-source project. Our mission is to provide the most in-depth way to let users manage their alerts, working closely with customers and the Grafana Cloud teams to make Alerting work on-prem and at infinite scale in Cloud. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Staff Backend Engineer, Alerting, you will take an active role in influencing our roadmap and your own career objectives. You will work with your team to deliver new features, then use the results to iterate and improve. You will drive projects from initial ideation all the way to operations once it is in the hands of customers, embracing our open-source culture and contributing to other projects that may not directly fall within your team’s scope. You will design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, owning the reliability, performance, and availability. You will be part of your team’s on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you’re running. You will mentor and support other team members, participate in design discussions, and collaborate with the team. You will learn new skills by gaining a deeper understanding of our cloud product and our customers and getting to know the codebase of a large distributed system. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will be a motivated self-starter with a bias towards action. You will be customer-focused and have a passion for creating intuitive products that fit customers’ needs. You will be able to take on complex challenges and break them down to achieve short feedback loops. You will have solid experience with at least one programming language, preferably Go, but also Python, Java, C++, Rust, or similar. You will have some experience with delivering projects from gathering requirements, brainstorming ideas all the way to shipping a product to the customer’s hands in a self-driven way. You will also have some experience with developing software that runs in the Cloud or systems engineering. WHY REMOTE As a remote-first company, we provide guidance and meet regularly using video calls. An independent attitude and good communication skills are a must. You will be working with your teammates in a fully remote setup, so good communication skills are essential. BENEFITS In Ireland, the compensation range for this role is EUR 117,600 - EUR 141,120. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process. All of our roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), giving every team member ownership in Grafana Labs' success.
