Staff+ Application Security Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE Anthropic is a company dedicated to creating reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. As a member of our Application Security team, you will play a critical role in securing the systems that build, serve, and increasingly are Claude, our primary AI tool. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a senior security engineer on our team, you will design, build, and operate Claude-powered security systems, including LLM-driven code analysis, automated vulnerability remediation, and AI-assisted threat modeling. You will own one or more of these systems end-to-end, including the cross-functional relationships that come with it. Your responsibilities will also include leading secure design reviews and threat modeling for novel AI systems, identifying risks that don't map to existing frameworks, and partnering with Product, Infrastructure, and Research teams as an embedded security owner. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need hands-on application and infrastructure security experience, including cloud and containerized environments. You should have production-quality coding ability in at least one of Python, Go, Rust, or TypeScript, with a track record of building durable systems rather than one-off scripts. You will also need practical threat-modeling and vulnerability-identification skills, as well as the ability to operate with high autonomy and ambiguity.
