Your work will directly impact the security and availability of our platform, making it a non-negotiable aspect of your responsibilities. This will involve building and operating production authentication and identity systems, ensuring the highest level of security and availability. Your tasks will include: - Owning LaunchDarkly's authentication surface end to end, including single sign-on, SCIM provisioning, login and session flows, multi-factor authentication, and API key and token authentication. - Building enterprise identity capabilities for our largest customers, including additional identity-provider integrations, support for multiple IdPs per account, and MFA enforcement by default. - Making the stack operable, including setting up SLOs, monitoring for certificate expiry and provisioning failures, actionable alerting, runbooks, and a sustainable on-call. - Partnering with Product Security on threat modeling, audit logging, and compliance requirements, including SOC 2 and FedRAMP. - Setting the technical direction for identity at LaunchDarkly and raising the bar for engineers through design review and mentorship. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you will need: - 6+ years of professional software-engineering experience, with significant work on complex backend applications. - Experience building or operating production authentication and identity systems. - A track record of working on systems where correctness and availability are non-negotiable, including habits such as backward-compatible change, staged rollouts, and safe cutovers. - Proficiency in at least one backend language (Go, Rust, Python, etc.) and familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent), plus strong production ownership including on-call. WHY REMOTE As a remote employee, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere and enjoy a high level of autonomy. LaunchDarkly operates from a place of high trust and transparency, and we are happy to state the pay range for our open roles to best align with your needs.
