ABOUT THE ROLE
Software Engineer - Platform Metal
We're seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our Foundations group at Grafana Labs. As part of the creation of a new Foundation's "Metal" squad, you will be responsible for building and provisioning resources, including storage, networking, and Kubernetes clusters in new environments. This role will provide a Kubernetes control plane and underlying resources, outside public Cloud, to the rest of Engineering.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Software Engineer on the Platform Metal team, you will be responsible for managing our physical "Metal" environment from bare metal to Kubernetes. This includes managing cluster networking components, scheduling and autoscaling, maintaining Crossplane compositions and Terraform modules, and working with users to understand their needs and ensure we're investing in the right capabilities. You will also be responsible for maintaining the reliability and performance of our platform as we scale to hundreds of millions of metrics, log lines, and traces per second.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be successful in this role, you should have experience with distributed systems, operating your code, and a holistic approach to development. You should be comfortable working in a remote-first company and be able to communicate effectively with a global team. You should also have experience with datacenter operations, participation in an on-call rotation, and a strong understanding of Kubernetes, Go, Python, and Shell.
WHY REMOTE
Grafana Labs is a 100% remote company with 1,600+ team members across 40+ countries. We value collaboration, flexibility, and autonomy, and we're looking for someone who shares these values. As a remote team member, you'll have the opportunity to work with a global team, contribute to open-source projects, and have a significant impact on the development of our platform.
BENEFITS
As a Software Engineer at Grafana Labs, you'll receive a competitive salary, flexible schedule, and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, parental leave, and education stipend. You'll also have access to ongoing training and development opportunities, including mentorship and career growth support.
