Software Engineer II, Backend

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer II, Backend to join our team at Brex. As a critical member of our Credit Limit Engineering team, you will build the systems that power our credit decisioning and risk management, enabling us to responsibly extend credit to businesses while managing billions of dollars in credit exposure. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Software Engineer on our Credit Limit Engineering team, you will work across the entire stack to create solutions that drive our credit business forward. Your responsibilities will include building and maintaining critical financial infrastructure, developing and optimizing our underwriting engine, implementing customer-facing features, collaborating with cross-functional teams, designing and building internal tooling, and owning problems end-to-end. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need 2+ years of full-time software engineering experience with a focus on backend development, as well as 1+ year of experience in financial systems, payments, underwriting, or a fintech application. You will also need strong curiosity for digging deep into technical problems, strong ownership capable of delivering high-quality solutions, and experience building and scaling production systems. Proficiency in backend technologies such as Kotlin, Java, or Typescript, and comfort with our stack (Kotlin and Micronaut), are also required. BENEFITS We offer a competitive salary range of $152,000 - $190,000, depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
