Software Engineer, Compute
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're building a platform that powers all of compute at Vercel, providing the primitives to run builds, serverless functions, middleware, edge functions, secure compute, and sandboxes. This role is part of a team that shapes the future of web development, trusted by companies like OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, Supreme, and millions of developers worldwide.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a key member of this team, you'll manage our fleet of clusters, running hundreds of instances deployed in every region where our customers deploy and run their code. You'll write Golang on a daily basis and use Terraform to provision the needed infrastructure. You'll also work with Nomad, our current choice for scheduling workloads, and collaborate with cross-team and cross-functional stakeholders to conceive and implement new platform features. Your work will focus on improving performance and increasing reliability, and you'll have the opportunity to work on projects like Fluid Compute and Active CPU Pricing.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To succeed in this role, you'll need 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a preference for Golang. You'll have extended experience with Containers, Virtual Machines, Linux, and a deep understanding of how these systems work under the hood. You'll also have built and operated distributed systems at scale, and experience with schedulers and orchestrators like Nomad.
WHY REMOTE
This role is fully remote, with the option to work from one of our offices in SF, NY, London, or Berlin if you're within a pre-determined commuting distance. We're committed to fostering an inclusive community, and we encourage everyone to apply for our available positions, even if they don't necessarily check every box on the job description.
BENEFITS
We offer a great compensation package, including equity, an inclusive healthcare package, flexible time off, and a WFH budget to outfit your space as needed. We're committed to helping you learn and grow, with mentorship and opportunities to attend events that help you build your network and skills.
