Senior Staff Engineer, Communication & Connectivity

ABOUT THE ROLE As a Senior Staff Engineer, Communication & Connectivity at Airbnb, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our Guest & Host organization. Our teams work on building world-class platforms and features to create high-quality experiences for our guests and hosts. The Communication and Connectivity team is responsible for the tools used daily by millions of guests and hosts, including Messaging, push notifications, and other deep integrations with key operating system features. You will join a team of engineers covering multiple disciplines, including web engineers, native engineers, backend engineers, data engineers, and machine learning engineers. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a senior technical individual contributor, you will partner closely with senior leaders across the broader technical organization. You will be hands-on and contribute code, working closely with cross-functional teams to envision a unique, delightful, extensible guest-host communication experience. Your responsibilities will include: - Envisioning and building a scalable foundation for reaching out hosts in need through notifications - Exploring ways to uplift our partner integration platform leveraging advanced AI technology - Understanding how key technical decisions will drive business outcomes and delivering frameworks and platforms that improve delivery with high-quality to those outcomes - Performing design and code reviews and advising/mentoring other engineers at Airbnb WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need: - 12+ years of relevant experience in a fast-paced, high-growth tech environment - A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field - Experience building, leading, and architecting full-stack products and systems at enterprise scale with a great impact - Experience in applying modern artificial intelligence technologies to products and development cycles - Technical leadership: hands-on experience leading project teams, setting technical direction and strategy, and working cross-functionally with Product and Data Science teams - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with examples of working across teams and organizations on technical initiatives WHY REMOTE This position is US-Remote Eligible, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States.
