Zego
Senior Software Engineer
Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
Zego is redefining the future of on‑demand insurance for drivers, trucks and fleets. As a Senior Software Engineer you will be at the heart of that transformation, building the high‑performance, highly available services that enable instant coverage, real‑time risk assessment and seamless customer experiences. You will work closely with product, data science and design to translate business goals into scalable, maintainable code that powers our global platform. Your work will directly impact millions of users who rely on Zego to protect their livelihoods and keep their operations running smoothly.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will architect and implement core microservices in Go and Python, ensuring they meet strict performance, reliability and security standards. You will lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers and champion best practices across the engineering organization. You will collaborate with data teams to integrate real‑time telemetry and predictive models into the service layer. You will drive continuous improvement of our CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and incident response processes. You will contribute to strategic planning, helping to shape the technical roadmap and prioritize features that deliver maximum value to our customers. You will actively participate in cross‑functional sprint planning, retrospectives and design workshops, ensuring alignment between engineering, product and business stakeholders.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
You have at least five years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record delivering production‑grade services at scale. You are fluent in Go and comfortable with Python, SQL and NoSQL data stores. You have deep experience deploying and operating microservices on Kubernetes in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP or Azure). You understand modern observability practices, including distributed tracing, metrics, and log aggregation. You can design for resilience, scalability and low latency, and you routinely write automated tests, perform load testing and conduct post‑mortem analysis. You possess strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, and you communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences. You thrive in a fast‑moving environment and are comfortable taking ownership of initiatives from conception through production.
WHY REMOTE
Zego’s engineering culture is built on distributed, asynchronous collaboration. You will join a global team that values deep focus, clear documentation and well‑timed communication. Our remote-first approach gives you the freedom to structure your day around your most productive hours while staying connected through scheduled stand‑ups, virtual design reviews and regular all‑hands meetings. You will have the flexibility to work from anywhere in the world, supported by a robust set of tools and processes that keep the team cohesive and high‑performing.
BENEFITS
Competitive health, dental and vision coverage for you and your dependents. Generous paid time off, including personal, sick and parental leave. A remote work stipend to cover home‑office setup and utilities. A learning budget and access to industry conferences, courses and internal knowledge sharing. Flexible working hours, unlimited vacation policy and a culture that encourages work‑life balance. Continuous career development opportunities through mentorship, code reviews and leadership training.
