Senior Software Engineer, Vector Index Research

ABOUT THE ROLE At Zilliz, we're a fast-growing startup dedicated to developing the industry's leading vector database for enterprise-grade AI. As a key member of our Vector Index team, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of AI technology. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Vector Index Engineer at Zilliz, you'll be responsible for building and optimizing the core vector retrieval capabilities behind our products, including Milvus, Zilliz Cloud, and Vector Lakebase. Your primary focus will be on making similarity search over massive embedding datasets faster, more accurate, and more cost-efficient. You'll also work on advancing ANN algorithms, index structures, quantization, compression, recall optimization, CPU/GPU acceleration, and high-performance retrieval frameworks. WHAT YOU'LL NEED We're looking for engineers who are passionate about research but also possess strong engineering fundamentals, performance optimization skills, and an eye for engineering taste. To succeed in this role, you should have a solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles. Experience with vector databases, similarity search, and AI-related technologies is highly desirable.
