Senior Software Engineer - Streaming Platform

ABOUT THE ROLE We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Streaming Platform team at Datadog. As a critical component of our infrastructure, the Streaming Platform group builds the core abstractions that ensure Datadog remains a trusted partner for engineers worldwide. Our team owns the Rust client library, providing language bindings for Java, Go, and Python, and focuses on building intuitive APIs and abstractions that make a powerful distributed system easy to adopt and operate for our internal users. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Software Engineer on our Streaming Platform team, you will collaborate directly with our users, tackle performance-critical code, and solve complex distributed systems challenges across the control plane, client libraries, and data plane. Your responsibilities will include: - Architecting and implementing resilient interactions between our client libraries and the control plane - Optimizing our high-throughput, low-level streaming library to push the boundaries of performance and efficiency - Championing the developer experience by providing exceptional support, technical documentation, and proactive troubleshooting for our wide user base - Leading high-stakes technical projects, maintaining end-to-end accountability for their delivery and quality - Collaborating with partner teams on delivering projects wider than your team's scope - Mentoring junior engineers and interns, fostering a culture of technical excellence and shared knowledge WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you will need to be a self-starter who experiments methodically, iterates rapidly, and views failure as a learning opportunity.
