Senior Software Engineer - Streaming Platform Client

ABOUT THE ROLE Datadog is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Streaming Platform Client team. As a critical component of our ecosystem, this team owns the Rust client library for producers and consumers, with language bindings for Java, Go, and Python. The ideal candidate will collaborate directly with users, tackle performance-critical code, and solve complex distributed systems challenges. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will work within a distributed team spanning Europe and the US, building critical technologies that power data pipelines for dozens of internal teams and hundreds of services. Key responsibilities include: - Architecting and implementing resilient interactions between client libraries and the control plane - Optimizing high-throughput, low-level streaming library to push performance and efficiency boundaries - Championing developer experience by providing exceptional support, technical documentation, and proactive troubleshooting for a wide user base - Leading high-stakes technical projects, maintaining end-to-end accountability for delivery and quality - Collaborating with partner teams on delivering projects wider than your team's scope - Mentoring junior engineers and interns, fostering a culture of technical excellence and shared knowledge WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you should be a self-starter who experiments methodically, iterates rapidly, and views failure as a learning opportunity. You should also be a finisher who takes projects through the finish line and does not stop at shipping code.
