Senior Software Engineer, Service Tools

ABOUT THE ROLE As a Senior Software Engineer on the Service Tools team at Airbnb, you will play a critical role in shaping the end-to-end developer experience for backend developers. With a focus on building and maintaining high-quality tools and systems, you will contribute to the company's mission of creating a world where anyone can belong anywhere. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a member of the Service Tools team, your responsibilities will include: - Building and maintaining our next-gen build system using the latest technologies, such as Bazel - Working on integrations between the build system and CI/CD tooling, including merge queues, code coverage, and integration testing - Improving the editor experience for all backend developers, including IntelliJ - Collaborating with engineering leaders across Airbnb teams to adopt new capabilities and drive business impact - Partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure code quality, commitment to craft, and operational excellence - Working on large-scale distributed products and services, including well-designed APIs, data pipelines, and efficient algorithms WHAT YOU'LL NEED To succeed in this role, you will need: - Fluency in English (professional level) - 6+ years of industry experience - Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience - Proficiency in one or more back-end server languages (Java, Ruby, Go, C++, etc.) - Experience with architectural patterns of high-scale distributed products and services - Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams - Familiarity with build systems, including Bazel - Experience working with large monorepos - Extensive JVM experience WHY REMOTE As a remote team member, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere and be part of a fast-moving team that is committed to leading as a 21st-century company.
