Senior Software Engineer - Observability Real User Monitoring (RUM) | Canada | Remote

WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a fullstack engineer on our Grafana Observability team, you'll be building end-to-end observability that spans application, infrastructure, database, browser, and mobile. Your focus will be on Real User Monitoring (RUM), capturing, storing, and querying high-volume user interaction data from browsers and mobile devices. You'll design and implement systems that ingest, store, and query high-cardinality, high-volume telemetry data using columnar/analytical databases. Your work will be tightly integrated with OpenTelemetry and Grafana Cloud, with a strong emphasis on performance, cost-efficiency, and developer experience.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
To be a great fit for this role, you'll need:
- 5+ years of fullstack engineering experience with strong backend fundamentals
- Backend experience in Go and frontend experience in TypeScript and React
- Experience building or operating distributed systems in production, such as Kafka, WarpStream, ClickHouse, Cassandra, and Postgres
- Familiarity with cloud-native systems, including Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, and Azure
- Experience working with high-throughput, high-cardinality data, such as logs, metrics, traces, and events
- Strong understanding of data modeling, query optimization, and performance tradeoffs
- Experience designing and building APIs and distributed services
- Experience building data-heavy UIs, such as dashboards, query tools, and debugging interfaces
- Familiarity with observability concepts, including traces, logs, metrics, and OpenTelemetry
