Senior Software Engineer - Linux

ABOUT THE ROLE We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our eBPF APM team at Datadog. As a key member of this high-impact team, you'll be responsible for designing and building core components of our zero-instrumentation APM product using eBPF and Go. You'll work closely with the team to tackle ambitious technical challenges and contribute to roadmap planning. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for: - Designing and building core components of our zero-instrumentation APM product using eBPF and Go - Developing systems to auto-discover services, classify L7 protocols, and extract RED metrics from both plaintext and TLS traffic - Solving complex challenges around protocol parsing, encryption handling, and performance at the kernel level - Ensuring broad compatibility across Linux kernel versions, distributions, and diverse customer environments - Collaborating across teams to drive technical direction, improve reliability, and scale the system for production use WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you'll need: - Significant experience in backend or systems-level development, with strong proficiency in Go or similar languages (C/C++) - Comfort working close to the Linux kernel and experience (or interest) in eBPF, networking, or observability tooling - A deep understanding of performance and efficiency - Experience building or operating scalable systems in complex environments and the ability to design for reliability and compatibility - A passion for solving hard problems in a fast-paced, technically deep environment - Familiarity with AI tools and a willingness to leverage them to enhance your coding, problem-solving, and building processes WHY REMOTE As a remote employee at Datadog, you'll enjoy a flexible schedule and the ability to work from anywhere.
