Senior Software Engineer - Grafana Databases, Managed Services | Spain | Remote

ABOUT THE ROLE The Senior Software Engineer - Grafana Databases, Managed Services role is a critical position within the Databases department at Grafana Labs. As a remote-first company, we're looking for a talented engineer to join our Managed Services team, which owns and operates shared, production-critical infrastructure that powers Grafana Cloud's next-generation database products. This role offers a unique blend of deep distributed systems work and the opportunity to influence reliability, scaling, and operational excellence. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Engineer on Managed Services, you will take ownership of running the systems in production, including operating and evolving 100+ multi-cloud streaming clusters and related database infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing and eliminating cross-layer failure modes, designing safe upgrade and rollout strategies at scale, improving observability, automation, and operational ergonomics, and partnering closely with database and platform teams to ensure safe scaling and query performance. You will also serve as a primary escalation point and on-call for relevant incidents, and own the relationship with all system vendors. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in distributed systems, with experience in operating and evolving complex infrastructure at scale. You should be proficient in designing safe upgrade and rollout strategies, improving observability and automation, and developing fault-tolerant patterns that account for distributed system realities. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as you will be working closely with teammates across regions.
