Senior Software Engineer - Distributed Systems

ABOUT THE ROLE As a Distributed Systems Engineer at Datadog, you will design, implement, and run in production the foundational platforms powering our applications. These platforms are optimized for durability, high availability, low latency, internet-scale footprint, and operability. Your data pipelines will ingest, store, analyze, and query in real-time billions of events per second from companies all over the globe. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will be responsible for building fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable solutions running in multi-tenant environments. You will write code in Go, Java, Rust, or C++, among other languages, and use open-source components such as Kafka, Redis, Cassandra, and Elasticsearch. You will own meaningful parts of our service, have an impact, and grow with the company. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you should have at least 6 years of experience in backend programming, a BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience, and significant experience with one or more programming languages. You should also have experience working on problems related to high durability, low latency, and other performance-critical areas. Additionally, you should be able to get down to the low-level when needed and care about simple designs and performance. Bonus requirements include the ability to use AI coding tools in day-to-day workflows and a willingness to push the boundaries of how AI can improve software engineering best practices.
