Senior Software Engineer, CDP - Money Movement

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced software engineer to join the Money Movement team within the Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in building the infrastructure powering the future of global payments. You will design and build the core backend systems for stablecoin-based pay-ins, payouts, deposits, and withdrawals, enabling fast, secure, and scalable transfers across borders and platforms. WHAT YOU'LL DO In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining backend systems and infrastructure that power stablecoin-based money movement. This will include: - Designing and building internal and external APIs that enable businesses and partners to embed stablecoin-powered payments into their products - Partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions - Identifying and resolving performance, scalability, and reliability challenges across distributed systems - Mentoring engineers on architectural best practices and contributing to raising the technical bar across the team - Owning key projects end-to-end as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI), driving them from design through production with high accountability WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need: - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating large-scale backend systems, ideally in fintech, payments, or crypto - Proficiency in backend languages (e.g., Go, Java, or similar) and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP), with hands-on experience designing distributed systems and APIs - Track record of serving as DRI for complex technical projects, driving end-to-end delivery from system design through production deployment - Experience integrating with or building on blockchain or crypto technologies such as stablecoins, on-chain payments, or smart contract platforms (e.g., Ethereum, Solana, Base) - Proven ability to write technical design documents and communicate system architecture trade-offs to product and engineering stakeholders - Experience responsibly using generative AI tools and copilots in daily workflows, continuously learning as tools evolve, and applying human-in-the-loop practices to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in efficiency, cost, and quality WHY REMOTE Coinbase is a remote-first company, but not remote-only. You will be expected to get together quarterly for intense in-person working sessions called “surges.” BENEFITS Coinbase offers a competitive total compensation package, including equity and bonus eligibility, as well as benefits (including medical, dental, and vision). The target annual base salary for this position is $191,100 CAD.
