Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform that powers DevSecOps for more than 50 million users, including over half of the Fortune 100. As a Senior Professional Services Engineer you will be at the forefront of helping customers adopt GitLab’s end‑to‑end platform, from initial installation to advanced migrations and continuous improvement. You will design and deliver reference architectures, guide customers through complex migrations to SaaS or self‑managed deployments, and translate business goals into secure, scalable technical solutions. Your work will directly influence product enhancements through close collaboration with GitLab’s product and engineering teams, ensuring that customer insights shape future releases. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will lead end‑to‑end professional services engagements, delivering installation, migration, training, and advisory services across GitLab’s capabilities. You will design and execute deployments ranging from single‑node Omnibus installations to large, multi‑cloud reference architectures using Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code practices. You will serve as a trusted technical advisor, translating customer objectives into actionable implementation plans and clear next steps. You will partner with Engagement Managers and Project Managers to refine delivery processes, remove friction, and improve consistency. You will mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering autonomy. You will manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously, either as the primary engineer or as a lead overseeing a team of engineers. WHAT YOU'LL NEED You have professional experience with Infrastructure as Code or Configuration as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, Chef, or Kubernetes, and you are comfortable deploying across at least two major cloud providers, including AWS, GCP, or Azure. You possess deep knowledge of GitLab, Git, and source control workflows, and you have a solid grounding in security and AI technologies. You have a proven track record delivering customer‑facing services, including installation, migration, training, and advisory engagements, and you can independently manage complex projects while leading and coaching other engineers. Your communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are strong; you can provide clear status updates, build consensus, and document decisions in a fully remote, asynchronous environment. You are solution‑oriented, able to identify root causes, propose options, and drive issues to resolution while balancing multiple priorities. WHY REMOTE GitLab’s culture is built around distributed, asynchronous collaboration, allowing you to work across time zones without sacrificing productivity or connection. Your schedule is flexible, enabling you to align work hours with personal commitments while meeting customer needs. The remote environment empowers you to focus on high‑impact tasks, leverage AI tools for efficiency, and continuously learn from a global community of experts. You will have the freedom to design your workspace, manage your own workflow, and contribute to a culture that values results, transparency, and continuous improvement. BENEFITS Competitive health, dental, and vision coverage. Generous paid time off and a flexible holiday policy. Remote work stipend and equipment allowance. Annual learning budget and access to industry conferences. Comprehensive retirement savings plan with company match. Inclusive, supportive workplace culture with employee resource groups and wellness programs.
