Senior Manager, Legal Technology, Operations & AI Enablement

ABOUT THE ROLE The Senior Manager, Legal Technology, Operations & AI Enablement will play a pivotal role in transforming the legal function at Instacart, driving the development of a modern contract lifecycle management system, AI enablement program, and high-performing legal operations team. This leader will bridge the gap between law, operations, and technology, building the infrastructure and tooling necessary to make the legal function faster, smarter, and more accountable. WHAT YOU'LL DO In the first year, you will be responsible for building a high-performing legal operations team with clear direction, performance management, and the capacity to serve the full organization. You will also oversee the deployment and adoption of an AI enablement program, including the evaluation, deployment, and embedding of AI-powered tools into attorney workflows. Additionally, you will execute and scale legal and business operations initiatives, including Go-To-Market strategies, CPQ implementations and enhancements, and Ironclad workflows supporting new ad formats, retailer engagements, and other workstreams. Furthermore, you will continuously improve contract lifecycle management systems and cross-system integrations, generating operational savings from Oracle, Zip, Salesforce, and Workday integrations with CLM and P2P workflows. You will also establish clear accountability for outside counsel operations, including billing guidelines, e-billing systems management, law firm evaluations, and spend reporting. Finally, you will build and maintain the team's knowledge management infrastructure and establish KPI dashboards to provide leadership with clear visibility into operational health. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need a strong background in legal operations, strategy, and operations, with at least 8 years of experience and 3 years of direct people management experience. You will also need demonstrated experience leading end-to-end technology implementations with deep systems integrations, including hands-on experience with AI tooling, vendor evaluation, tool deployment, and building or managing AI-assisted or agentic workflows. Strong analytical and project management skills, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to drive multiple complex initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment are also essential.
