Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Relevance and Personalization

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Relevance and Personalization team at Airbnb. This team is responsible for search and recommendation across the entire Airbnb digital platform, and as a leader in the team, you will work on critical, impactful projects that focus on developing end-to-end ranking algorithms and ecosystems for optimizing multiple critical business objectives. WHAT YOU'LL DO As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will be responsible for building and continuously improving cutting-edge Machine Learning models for Airbnb product, business, and operational use cases. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional partners, including software engineers, product managers, operations, and data scientists, to identify opportunities for business impact, understand, refine, and prioritize requirements for machine learning models, drive engineering decisions, and quantify impact. You will also develop, productionize, and operate Machine Learning models and pipelines at scale, including both batch and real-time use cases. Additionally, you will leverage third-party and in-house Machine Learning tools and infrastructure to develop reusable, highly differentiating, and high-performing Machine Learning systems. WHAT YOU'LL NEED To be successful in this role, you will need 5+ years of industry experience in applied Machine Learning, including a Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field. You will have strong programming skills in languages such as Scala, Python, Java, or C++, as well as data engineering skills. You will also have a deep understanding of Machine Learning best practices, algorithms, and domains, including experience with technologies such as Tensorflow, PyTorch, Kubernetes, Spark, Airflow, and Kafka. WHY REMOTE This position is US-Remote Eligible, and you must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. You may be required to attend occasional work at an Airbnb office or offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
